Since it’s pride month, let’s talk about how slang thats dubbed “queer culture” such as “yassss” and “slay queen” comes from Black women and Queer Black people and Queers of Color. Let’s talk about how our vernacular is seen as ratchet and ghetto when we use it. Let’s talk about how white queers appropriated the slang used by their of color counterparts bc they felt entitled to it, and only got mildly irritated when the cishets used the words as if cishet Black women aren’t why you speak the way you speak. Since it’s pride month, let’s talk about the way white gays colonize their own community by appropriating words such as butch and studs (words of Black origin) from the lesbian/wlw community too, i mean, since it’s pride month.
